A New York City business administrator who concentrates on complex merger and acquisition (M&A) processes, Gary D Herwitz has represented multiple high-profile clients as managing partner of the consulting firm CoMetrics. When Tahari ASL sought to widen the circle of investors for its Catherine Malandrino clothing line in 2013, Gary Herwitz acted as M&A advisor, ultimately securing a successful sales deal with Bluestar Alliance, LLC.

Emphasizing contemporary designs, Catherine Malandrino sells a popular line of women’s dresses through major retailers such as Nordstrom. The president and chairman of Tahari ASL, Arthur Levine and Elie Tahari respectively, have been key investors in the Malandrino brand since 2011. By selling the brand to Bluestar Alliance, they hoped to significantly expand Malandrino’s geographical influence.

The terms of the Bluestar sale stipulated that Tahari would continue to manufacture and distribute the line. It also stipulated that both Elie Tahari and Arthur Levine would continue to serve Malandrino as minority partners.
